Well if your like me & seen Esteban on the HSN, you must have wondered...How do they play? Well my day job (& my mind set, which both require guitars) allows me a certain lenience in the quality department, choosing aesthetics over other more important concerns. I got this yesterday for $30

yes those are fireworks! I only played it through his guitar amp & the electronics all work, I'm using it through my PA this morning. I put some new stings (EXP's) on it last night & played for 30 min or so & it plays very nicely. The action is nice, the dude said he adjusted the guitar which made me nervous. It tunes up fine but the intonation at  the octave harmonic is a bit off more on the B & high E strings. Neck seems straight so all in all worth $30, I think, I'll know for sure after this morning. The family (& mother in-law...)will be back on Tuesday, I went a little dumb on the GAS, monitors, drum kit, guitar, 2 guitar stands (2 for $10 how could I not!), a few cords...I'm done!!!! I'm done!!!! I don't think I spent $200 though...I'm done!!!!
Done On!

I've seen Esteban play a couple times here in Arizona and even own a CD or two.  He's really a great classical-flamenco style guitarist!

Yeah I think he's a pretty amazing player. I also have always wondered about his guitars since they get such a bad wrap & I had never had the opportunity to play one. I'm pretty surprised by how much I like the feel & even though it 's a little tinty acoustically, plugged into my Fishman tower it sounded, thick, full & warm. I'm not sure how much I could justify spending on it but that statement is really based on the fact I'm scared some other musician will pick on me when they see I'm playing an Esteban. I had 5, 25 min. shows this morning & it performed well & I enjoyed playing it. More than I enjoy playing the Dean acoustic Flying V I usually play all summer. I'd buy another for $30...or less but maybe probably not more, I have 4 acoustics, a backpacker & 2 unplayable guitars so I'm cool...I don't have a nylon string guitar though...hmmmm

Well hell for that price you can't go wrong... but i hear ya....   i almost bought one several times now, and still haven't, but probably will if i can get it for 30 bucks or less.     I've played 10K dollar acoustic guitars and ... sure they look beautiful! but then played ones that were far far less (at Guitar Center music store) and i liked the cheaper guitar way better... sounded better, played better, had similar action.  So ENJOY your Esteban guitar Hook... now i want one again :)

So funnily enough, at my gig on Tuesday I went to plug into the Esteban and the whole jack was pushed into the guitar. I assume there was a bolt on the outside that came off leaving the jack loose. So I grabbed my Dan Flying V acoustic and proceed to have connection issues through the whole show. I had a rehersal right after that gig and used my Dean Exotica an had connection issues with that one...crap! So I went to guitar center & got this
