An excellent arrangement. Simple yet effective. Nice clear singing the words and the story come over very clearly.

There's just a little more to the story about my history with this song and this guitar.

My original intention was to record this song using the same strings that were on the guitar when I inherited it. My guess is that these strings were roughly 40 years old, but they were the same strings my father played

This style of playing does not come easy to me. I spent many days playing nothing else but Goddamn Streets of La-goddamn-redo before I felt confident enough to get through it at the slow the Marty Robbins tempo. And even then I had to punch in once.

But soon the song settled into my muscle memory. I could play it without thinking, and I kept playing it over and over, and faster and faster. It was like a meditation for me. It still is the first thing I'm likely to play when I pick up a guitar.

Funny thing is when it's played fast, it has a very cheerful feel -- like a classical piece.

And that's all I have to say about Streets of Laredo, other than, Thanks for your comments, and thanks for listening.

for some strange reason this song used to play in my head years ago, one of those tunes that kept coming back. The strange thing is that at the time I was into Kraut Rock, Beefheart etc.....so didn't actually listen to Streets of Laredo type music at all.
I love your version, the story about your Dad makes it special...playing it on his old Guitar, Brilliant.....the story resonates with me because when I was young my guitar stayed under the bed until  I sold it, didn't think Id be able to learn so didn't try.....many years later bought an old 3/4 classical in a junk shop....started learning from a book and the net...still learning, plus one of my fav guitars is the third one I bought a Classical from Argos..£28, its now got 5 strings and have it open tuned......not sure what Im doin with open tunin but learning and enjoying...ps thanks for the lyrics and chords might just give it shot later.....A fantastic track my friend and a great tribute to your dad ......
