Sadvertising
written & performed by Hook
I'll tug at your heart strings
win you over with tears
I'll remind you how much
you wish they were still here
transport you back to a moment in time
less complicated with a much straighter spine

Sadvertising
Enterprising
Hope no starts realizing
that it's really all about greed
Sadvertising
compromising
all I ever learned
ethics & morality

I'll attach sentiment to everyday things
& when put into action connection they'll bring
transport you back to innocence & youth
& then I'll cleverly connect it all around to is fine 80 proof

Sadvertising
compromising
all I ever learned
ethics & morality
Sadvertising
Enterprising
Hope no starts realizing
that it's really all about greed

Can you sell me what this pen stands for

Sadvertising
criticizing
the cognitive ability
of most of humanity
sadvertising

my insecurity
It's a shame you trusted me

An engaging write, my friend.
It's a subject that's been running through my head, as of late... meaning about a year.
(it's still scrambled up though and unfocused)

As always, love your artful, creations.

BTW
Looking forward to more with that... huh.... African harp, I think it was.

A really well observed lyric. I love the way you get straight to the point & get your message across without ever getting "preachy". Great vocals too, by the way :)

Reminds me of some of the hilarious pen reviews on Amazon.com:

Love the lyrics, but also love the performance. Great vocals and the lead uke after the pen section is really effective, love the way it breaks down a bit and then reprises. Nice backing vox too. A little gem!

I'll admit the subject matter didn't really grab me while reading your liner notes. But that title line just plain sounds good. It drew me in and MADE me like it. I didn't even want to. But you went and wrote and performed it so damn good I couldn't resist. How dare you, sir. How dare you.  ;)

I like songs where the vocal kicks in right from the outset, and you managed to fit a lot in lyrically for 3 minutes.

The gentle strummed sound of the Uke sounds superb as does slightly downbeat vocal delivery.

The background harmonising vocal that comes in during the second chorus and last verses was very effective and gives the song a nice variation

Could imagine this song working equally well with a fuller production also.

This is a very clever song, fab lyrics. Reminded me on Extreme and their play on words. Enjoyed this loads bro, and made me think. Cool track.
