We don't have to kill the whale
To have a lovely time
There are lots of other fish
Upon which we can dine
Pilchards in tomato sauce
An old favourite of mine
And tuna chunks in brine
And tuna chunks in brine

Old Bill Brown had a daughter and a son
One went to Denver and the other went wrong

 - from an old cowboy song called "Old Paint.

I love the two different uses of the word "went" in that last line.

Here's Linda Ronstadt's version. A beautiful song by a beautiful lady.

Two margarines on the go, it's a nightmare scenario.

Two margarines in my life, two margarines to butter my knife.

Two margarines, but which one should I use to butter my scone,

It's a dilemma second to none

Tangled Wires

Some of my favourites, amongst many, from Half Man Half Biscuit....

There's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets
(National Shite Day)

Car crime's low, the gun crime's lower
The town hall band CD, it's a grower
You never hear of folk getting knocked on the bonce
Although there was a drive-by shouting once
(For What Is Chatteris...)

Oh help me Mrs Medlicott
I don't know what to do
I've only got three bullets
And there's four of Motley Crue
(Upon Westminster Bridge)

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - The Days that Used to Be

Talk to me my long lost friend
Tell me how you are
Are you happy with your circumstance?
Are you driving a new car?
Does it get you where you want to go
With a seven year warranty?
Or just another hundred thousand miles away
From the days that used to be?

Most of my favorite lyrics would have to be from "Fish" (ex Marillion).

Some great ones on Misplaced Childhood...

"A train sleeps in a siding,
The driver guzzles another can of lager,
To wash away the memories,
Of a Friday night down at the club"

or

"She was a wallflower at sixteen,
She'll be a wallflower at thirty four,
Her mother called her beautiful,
Her Daddy said... a whore"

It really has to heard with Fish singing, his lyrics can really strip you to the bone.
