This song took entirely to long to record. Most of my time was spent on the bridge solo, I wanted to do something different so I decided to use these orchestra string samples and make like a string quartet. Took a lot of fumbling around and a lot of work for 8 bars but i think it came out decent.
Two acoustic guitars (one capo of the 5th fret), bass, strat, organ and drum loop.

LYRICS -

"HALF WAY HOME" by David Bride

The longest trip is always the road home,
Seems like it goes on forever into the unknown,
Life on the highway ain't no life to lead,
I have a loving wife at home and three mouths to feed,

(Chorus)
Another discount motel room
And I'm tired of sleeping alone,
To many miles on this endless highway
And I'm still half way home

The time without you seems to never end,
Till I can hold you in my arms and whisper amen,
The love that you give to me keeps me going on,
Driving all through the night from dusk till the dawn,

(Chorus)
Another discount motel room
And I'm tired of sleeping alone,
To many miles on this endless highway
And I'm still half way home,

(Bridge) Instrumental

The sweetest trip is always the road home,
To be back with my family among my own,
Life on the highway ain't no life to lead,
Someday soon I won't ever have to leave,

(Chorus)
Another discount motel room
And I'm tired of sleeping alone,
To many miles on this endless highway
And I'm still half way home.

Another discount motel room
And I'm tired of sleeping alone,
To many miles on this endless highway
But I'm almost home,

Wow, I love everything about this. I love the lyrics, particularly the chorus, the way the ooohs come in on the chorus and yes the bridge is stunning. It's beautifully put together, you've got a belter there Dave!

Sounds great Dave! The string quartet is perfect and it makes a cool addition to the song. I think the time it took was well worth the effort. Nice work.

Love the song's sentiment, how true it is.
Man that guitar rings so sweet.
Beautiful lyrics-- excellent storytelling.

Nice job mixing the strings--try to fade them a little more at the end of the bridge.
I know what you mean about 8 bars of hell.
I run into the same when trying to do a solo or noodling beneath a vocal.

This came out just wonderfully.

A really good song, well mixed with big sing-a-long potential. Love how the drums come in on the second verse. Great stuff DJ!
