Thought I posted this.
Changes are in RED
I've been writing this one for a few years now and only during my
latest tinkering did the story finally click for me.
I know, pretty long winded, eh?  ??? ??? ???

A story of a lost soul roaming aimlessly, after suffering a life altering tragedy.

Dusty Road
MisterNelson
verse
You may see me walking the streets of Memphis.
Or resting feet in Edgar Allan's home.
Getting my fill of sweets, down in Georgia.
Or taking that ole Greyhound flight alone.
Manning up, standing tough, faces I've shown.
To mask the pain of being on my own.
Because the gift of finding, the silver lining, has forsaken me.
On this dusty road, I roam.

Chorus
Dusty Road - a real comfort to me.
Dusty Road - in the mist of the troubles I see.
And I know ain't no better place for me.
So I'll see you all, down that dusty road.

verse
I spent a little time down in the south lands.
Where the pace is slow and the air is so sweet.
Never thinking much or planning for tomorrow.
With honey by my side and sand beneath my feet.
Constantly gracing, places I don't belong.
And the way I'm living this life, I've been giving, is wrong.
But my path was laid, that cold dark day, their lives were lost.
So on this dusty road, I roam.

Chorus
Dusty Road - a real comfort to me.
Dusty Road - in the mist of the troubles I see
And I know ain't no better place for me.
So I'll see you all, down that dusty road.

Bridge
My life: Loving wife and kids behind a white picket fence.
Spinning wind, took them all, becoming the cause of the state I'm in.
And through the pain of hate tinted eyes, it became clear to see.
That a life of joy and happiness, wasn't meant for me.

Chorus
Dusty Road - a real comfort to me.
Dusty Road - in the mist of the troubles I see
And I know ain't no better place for me.
So I'll see you all, down that dusty road.

Still a great song. The bridge was really nice and I love the piano at the verses.

I'm glad it all clicked into place for you, and that we get to hear the fruits of your journey. A sublime epic. So many amazing things going on - I really love the shaker / tambourine and the guitar motif on the chorus; the cello on the bridge; the intro; the lyric. OK... everything! So good.

Oh well ........

T.C. Elliott

Yeah, this is great. The harmony vocals to start, the bluesy guitar (but not too bluesy), the added percussion in parts, well really the whole damn arrangement. I really, really like this. Was gonna grab it but it ain't downloadable. A good one, sir. A very good one.

Great storytelling, Nelson - I really dig the fingerpicking and piano accents, and the relaxed and confident songcraft on display here.

Delightful, relaxed and wistful.

And your voice is sounding as good as ever. Nice harmonies.

I like the new parts as much as the old parts. It's a great song  - and I knew what I was getting into. :-)
