I want my bass to sound like this

Quote from: Ferryman on April 25, 2014, 02:52:50 AMJust read Wikipedia more and found out they come from Worthing, which is like Brighton's older, duller relative. So not so cool then.

The only thing going for Worthing is that it's not as bad as Littlehampton.

And I say that as a West Sussex native.

I am always a sucker for heavy fuzzy bass riffs and I wouldn't say I find them boring, although don't think I could listen to them continuously for long periods of time. Perhaps this is the type of music that is best for dipping into from time to time.

I have huge admiration for any two piece band like this, although it must be difficult in providing some variation from song to song with limited resources at your disposal.

Anyway...this rocks, and will be looking out for them tonight on the extended show.

Yeah these guys are good. I listened to a few of their songs. Love the talent in their playing and his vocals and songs.

Real good but it`s still missing a key element. Guitar? :D I keep waiting for jangly chords and little leads
and melodies or crunch to give it that ooomph! The sound technician must love these guys. Easy mix!

Like i said I love this like the White Stripes. I love the White Stripes but in the end just get a bass player
like these guys should get a guitar player or keys or a banjo? Just kidding  :)

I can't play this for some reason it's "not available in my country"...

But from the discussion, it reminds me of Death from Above 1979, a great single-album band who used only bass, drums and vocals...

I was channel switching whilst this was on, I must admit that it didn't grab me. Interesting, but after 4 songs, may get a little one dimensional. But nice idea - tuning must be a bitch though. Its easier guitar going an octave down that, bass an octave up I would imagine.

Yes a similar sound and style for sure but the other guy has a bit heavier bass and guitar combo sound with the upper octaves split off to guitar amps. I got the same message "not available in my country". I just looked them up on youtube. A new concept in 1979 and now back again.

Just watched it on Jools and got to say I was mightily impressed, the rhythm between guitar and drums is just cool, don,t know the in,s and out,s of how the bass player achieved his sound, but the drummer was amazing, cool track!!!

Here's a bit of info on how the guy achieves his sound, and where the idea came from: http://www.boon-magazine.co.uk/royal-blood/.

He's relatively new to bass playing, I think if his bass playing gets a bit more developed there's a lot they could do with this. At the moment he's mainly doing pentatonic riffs with a few simple lead twiddles. He could also expand his use of effects more, or even use a looper to get a few more layers into the sound.

I really like their attitude and hope they do well. I really wish I had thought of this and was 30 years younger!

Okay - what about a drum and bass fest then (like this band) - let see what us 'casters can do :)

We've already done it.

BassFest - Songs made just with a bass, drums, and vocals.

Of course, we could always have BassFest 2 sometime in the future.
