anyway sent a basic track to Tony asked him about doing a collab
got this back a day later
what's unique about this recording is, not only has it got Tony's brilliant guitar playing
but he sings on this as well -

Nice to meet you on this side, Tommy... A great track and a reminder of just what a fabulous all round musician Tony really was. You can also tell from all his recordings, this one especially, what a great bloke he was with a big sense of humour. The pair of you really compliment each other on this one, playing off each other and the banter between you is so poignant. Here's a toast to absent friends.

A neat approach. Not the dour versions I'm used to (although the subject matter is pretty down). A corker of a solo.  Is that a slap-back on there?

Ironically, I just watched On the Beach not too long ago, which I think inspired the original tune.
