Stumped by Soundcloud...

Hi chaps,

As a new member, please bear with me... I'm trying to post some of my stuff by linking to it on Soundcloud. I use the appropriate button, 2nd from the right, just above the text box like the one I'm typing in now, and paste the soundcloud URL of the track I want to share into the soundcloud tags generated. But when I try to preview the post, it tells me I haven't used a valid soundcloud URL. If I use the "embed" code for the track, all I get, when I hit the "preview" button is a generic grey "soundcloud" box with the logo, but no player.

I could just upload to this site, but a lot of my stuff is over the 6MB limit, and as it's already up on the web I'd prefer to just link to it. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance  :)

Cheers,

John.

Hi John. Welcome to Songcrafters. There are brief instructions for using all of our players in the Guides section of the main menu under Site Help / MP3 Player Widgets. I see that you've already sorted it out yourself but I thought I'd mention the guides in case you ever need to use one of the other players.

At Songcrafters, the emphasis is on music that people are currently recording. We don't like people to post their back catalogues here (not that you've given any indication of doing so - thank you). Although, 2 or 3 songs from the back catalogue is acceptable. And you're welcome to post links to your SoundCloud page or other music sites that host your past recordings. These can be put in your signature. The following guide has instructions for adding music site links to your signature:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=4

You can also add an icon of your main hardware or software DAW(s) in your signature:

https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=8

And you should add an avatar to your profile. This image will be displayed next to each of your posts and will also be included in the festival jukeboxes.

You can choose one of our stock images or upload your own. The maximum size is 100 x 100 pixels.

I hope this helps. And, once again, welcome to Songcrafters!

Thanks  :) I thought I'd uploaded an avatar, but obviously it didn't work somehow, so I went with a stock one... who wants to look at my ugly mug anyway?  ;D
