i spent hours on the drums.

i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i failed
you know you know you know you know you know you know you know you know i tried
everybody loves a trier
everybody loves a trier
no one wants to be a failure
and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round the cars all go
we only we only we only want to see them crash
everybody wants to see a failure
everybody wants to see a failure
everybody wants to see a car crash
car crash
i'd like i'd like i'd like i'd like i'd like i'd like i'd like i'd like to try again
to learn to learn to learn to learn to learn to learn to learn to learn from my mistakes
everybody loves a trier
everybody loves a trier
but no one wants to be the underdog
i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i tried i failed
you know you know you know you know you know you know you know you know i tried
everybody loves a trier
everybody loves a trier
everybody loves a trier
but no one wants to be the underdog
everybody wants to see a car crash

This is great - reminds me a bit of Marvin Gaye in the repetition in the lyrics and it's got a bit of that Seventies Soul sound, too. What did you do for the drums? Is that an egg shaker I hear?

Brilliant jim, probably one of my favourites from you.
A lot has went into this, there is still so much scope in there as well.
Wee fiddly guitar bits with a bit of wah me thinks  ;D ,,,,some backing vocals.
You've done a great job on this and the drum time payed off.
Well beyond Braw.

Hook

This is my new favorite from you, those drums are super sweet!! How did you arrange them? Love the lyrics and the descending repetitiveness is really cool & the hook "everybody loves a trier" is brilliant. Top shelf my brother.

over the years i have purchased various cheap daw software, that came with drum loops and samples. and recently i got a pile of drum loop sample cds and dvds for a few quid at a local charity shop.

i now have an extensive collection of drum loops on an external hard drive.

when i got my new pc it came with a simple daw called magix and it is ideal for building up drum tracks from various loops and samples. the hard part is when some loops are recorded at different bpms and getting them to sync. but basically for this song i used loops from various sources, it took a lot of tweaking.

i had also been reading about brian eno and his use in some of his artworks of long extended loops but the loops are all of different lengths. but he has them all in sync but their randomness creates differing sounds at any given time. so sort of tried to do that with the drum loops. (does that make sense).

Great sound you built there Jim.  Loops.

You could do a version called Everybody Love Lars Von Trier, a song which would make you ponder the futility of existence, existentially.

This is good ORH! I like the randomness of the drums loops. They do sound different depending on where they are placed in the song. Nice work!
