Written especially for TVFest - inspired by a Channel 4 programme, First Dates (Series 2 Episode 5).

Oh I'm so pleased this is finally done, it didn't think I'd ever get it recorded.

If anyone would like to help me with a decent accent for 2 and 4 that would be super - any accent, I don't mind. I was a tad reluctant to approach anyone directly due to the nature of the song ::)

3 and 4 are actually from the programme (more or less) and thanks very much to James (ORH) for the inspiration for No 2 :o (see Readers Letters thread https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=20758.0)

Oh I hope this isn't a crushing disappointment!

Revamped - 8.4.14 - trying to salvage something out of this song - it's too long and too scratchy - here's the new version First Date Nights - unfortunately it meant taking the programme references out, so I'll ask 64 to take off the banner
First Dates Nights – Hilary Fox revamed 8.4.14

Well I'm young, free and single
And I joined an internet dating site,
whilst searching for my soulmate online
Here's a little selection
Of a few gems
That I met on my first date nights

(Date No 1)

I'm a drainspotter – I like to take photos of interesting drain covers!
Date No 1 - £4.75 poorer and I waxed my tache for that
So I says
A donkey's lips don't fit onto a horse's mouth
And I ain't kissing no ass

(Date No 2)

Sorry I can't drink, I'm on antibiotics.
I've got this boil on me penis that just won't go away
He made his move, albeit slowly (well his boil was chaffing see)
He tried it on,
So I kicked him where it hurts

As he doubled up in pain
The boil burst
But there's a silver lining
coz now he can drink again!

So I says
A donkey's lips don't fit onto a horse's mouth
And I ain't kissing no ass

There's a happy ending to my search for love
I joined Uniform Dating online
Twas there I met my Fiancée, Klitos (he's Greek)
Who, in his uniform oh he looks mighty fine

I says -Why don't you keep your uniform on tonight love.
He said – I'll just go to the van and pick up me Patrol Crossing Sign

(he might be Greek but he sounded a lot like a pirate from Bristol)

Thanks for the comment Stevie xx

I thought it was too long and too scratchy so I've revamped it 8.4.14 and it's now First Date Nights - it's no longer a Fester but hopefully flows a bit better now :D

Great fun track Hilary and if I didnt know better I would say that you must actually be a Bristolian as the accent is spot on and I grew up in Bristol ( actually I was born in Weston-super-Mare but we moved when I was a baby ).....if youre not a Bristolian then I'm impressed with how good your accent is.
And by coincidence my Wifes niece Amie ( blonde, fast talking, nice but dim ) was actually on the programme a few weeks ago.......its a small world.

Oh I'm not from Bristol but I hail from not far from there, so it's not much of a stretch. I'd love to be able to do some more though - I'm working on a Welsh one for the penile boil bit  ???

I only watched the one Episode but it was a cracker - the only blonde I remember was the one with the man with the tattooed penis - that would be very cool if it was Amie :D
