ThePoundTown

Travelled wide with some work today
Saw Mr. Carnegie's from the train
Library, so yesterdays'
I wondered if she's still the same?
That grand old girl my favourite PoundTown
Raised her up and then they razed her down
Cheap and cheerful and claiming out loud
Pound-for-pound we're remarkably proud.

Get your facelift by tight-ponytail
Get your weekend kicks by much the same
Check your balance in the benefit queues
Feed your fighting-dog and count your tattoos
Purchase groceries in your dressing-gown
Only get dressed for a night-on-the-Town
Living life on cheapest fags-and-booze
Living life in any way that you choose.

Took my dreams to the weighing machines
And I got told, 'Your dreams are worth their weight in gold.'
Birds on windowsills, and notes on doors
And students laugh into their mobile phones.
In that grand old girl my favourite PoundTown
Raised her up and then they razed her down
Cheap and cheerful and claiming out loud
Pound-for-pound we're remarkably proud.

Your lyrics are always so amazing Steve, this is fantastic.  I love the feel of the vocals, soft and emotive.  Very good song, I love it.

Excellent Steve! Those soft synths sound great but your words and vocals are the star here. I don't know the scene or the exact meanings to some of your phrases and references but I sure do get a picture in my mind of what you are saying. Nice one!

I really enjoyed this, SteveB - loved the vocals and the soft synths, and the lyrics are very evocative. Never heard the expression "PoundTown" before, but I'll remember it!  ;D

Great feel, I really like the way it's EQ'd, it feels vintage, vocals are surreal, they have a tape quality about them, there's quite a bit of distortion in there which adds to the quality - are they double tracked? I think I caught a slight timing variation in the left and right signals.

really lovely, it's simple and complex at the same time and I don't know how you pulled that off.

Synths are delightful.

The whole track is inspired and really something special. You nailed it. I love this.

PiePod bound.

This works for me on every level and deserves airplay. Superb piece.  Roscoe

it seems like a good song, but it is all very in the background and distant. but maybe that's what you were going for!
