Hook

I just ordered a Tascam Dp-008ex

I didn't get the stupid deal of the day ($99)that Farrell got but it only cost me $150 from guitar center. I should have it in a day or 2. I've been really struggling between the br80 & the DP-008ex and finally made my decision today. As much as I like the boss units I really just cant justify spending around $250 on a machine that I can't record 2 tracks simultaneously (guitar in & a mic in). I'm also really disappointed in not being able to adjust levels while bouncing. The V tracks always have seemed the most important to me but now that I have a laptop with me it's not that hard to export the tracks. I like the eight mono tracks & it seems to have some decent reverbs and a few other useful effects. If the mics are as good as the dp-004 were then it should be great in the car. I still have the mbr & the ps02 for effects so I don't feel like I'm losing much there. The MR8 is an ok machine but the size is a bit too bulky & being so old the buttons stick a bit. The mic & effects suck and I really want 8 mono tracks. I also get some eq options with the DP-008 so that's another plus. All in all I'm excited  but perhaps I have a problem, this is my 6th multi track recorder!

One of the things I like about TASCAM is that they have lots of controls so you can access things instantly instead of stopping to navigate through menus and push tiny up/down buttons.

And there's a $50 mail-in rebate offer till April 30th.  http://tascam.com/news/display/1840/

Does this mean you got the same deal as Farrell afterall?

I'm not sure what the difference is between the DP-008EX and the original DP-008. Do you know?

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's in the effects, EQ and something about wav exporting.

Looks a very cool bit of kit, and at a great price - even without the rebate.

Yeh they can be linked together to effectively create a 32 track just the vs alone then another 8 on the br800.
I'm using the black 840 gx just now as it's quick and easy but I'm going to experiment with the lot over the next few months.
Your new one looks cool hope you have fun, looking forward to hearing it
