Are you really into pi day, or is it just another excuse to party? (Like any of us need one.)  This is where we find the mathematicians among the musicians.

One of my students brought a key lime pie to class yesterday.  I cut it and doled it out in sixteen servings.  Assuming that the pie is 12 inches (30.48 cm) in diameter and the pieces were identical in size, what is the length of the crust on each piece?

Don't ask me.  I teach science.  I'll only calculate the force and trajectory necessary to make the pie collide with your face.  That's a practical use of math.
