I'm very late to the party, and I'm only drinking water  :( !!!!

This is about an area of Seville where the bullfighters come from. It's across the river from the main city, and a bit rough (but really interesting). Triana is also the brand name of a very lovely sweet sherry by pedro ximenez.

This song was a bit over-ambitious. Multi-layers of Garageband piano, Fender bass, vocals, Thumbjam trumpet, and a dash of acoustic guitar.

Lyrics...

The sherry gets poured
By a man with a gold tooth
As the old roofs
Watch the setting sun

I'm sure they know
some tales from the bull ring
but they're not talking
just drink their wine like blood

in a bar in Triana
across the river
To a bar in Triana
Let's slip away

pedro ximenez
I'll drink the barrel dry
In a bar in Triana
You and I

On the darkside of the river
Lost to the other side
On the darkside of the river
In the bars where madonna's cry

You can tell the guitarists
from their fingernails
And the way they tap their
rhythms on the bar

so many songs
that got forgotten
as they take their sherries –
one for every scar

in a bar in Triana
across the river
To a bar in Triana
Let's slip away

pedro ximenez
I'll drink the barrel dry
In a bar in Triana
You and I

On the darkside of the river
Lost to the other side
On the darkside of the river
In the bars where madonna's cry

I particularly enjoyed the vocal performance on this - excellent vox. Its a big mix, loads going on - but comes together really very well. Excellent track.

I agree with Bruno, a lot of interesting fine music going on here, but for me it is the vocal performance that stands out.

Oh yes - I hear strains of Morricone and Forever Changes-era Love in the intro, too. Really excellent stuff. Bit of melancholy in the melody, too. You really paint a picture with words, Tim…I can picture this place.

Nice clean mix, with every note in its proper place. Man, that trumpet really is fab, too. :)

I enjoyed this a lot greeny! The TJ tumpet and the dash of flamenco guitar really sets the mood for the vision in the bullfighters scene at the bar. Your words and singing are a picture into a world I know nothing about. Nice!
