I love this one!
Your layering and quality acoustics is impressive!

Which sounds were captured using a mic?
What recorder and mic combination(s) did you use?

cuthbert

Thanks again folks for all the nice feedback! I appreciate it.

I recorded everything in the MicroBR.

I used the on-board mic on the recorder for the vocals, acoustic guitars, ukuleles, and box tanpura, and then applied some minor EQ in Audacity on the guitars and the lower pitch vocals (some low frequency cut).

For the electric mandola, I plugged it directly into the MBR 1/4" guitar input, and recorded my two takes with CHOR' TWN effect applied. Those two tracks can be heard panned somewhat left and somewhat right.

The tanpura is actually used to create a drone in Indian music, so it's not really a tonal instrument, no. The four strings are played open, and can be tuned to whatever tuning you like, but often it's a variation of I-V. In this song, I tuned them I-V-V-I and then just strummed across them all with my fingers to create that buzzy sound you hear.
