a little piece of the jigsaw
that holds us all together
a diamond
at the heart of it all
i don't know what we'd do without you
somewhere in the background
always in control
seer of the future
guardian of our past
i don't know what we'd do without you
benign and kind fair and wise
that much i know
a helping hand a guiding light
that much i know
here since the beginning
of our little world
always there
when we need you
i don't know what we'd do without you
finding the solutions
to problems old and new
you keep the engine running
i don't know what we'd do without you
benign and kind fair and wise
that much i know
a helping hand a guiding light
that much i know
that much i know
that much i know

Excellent! The nylon string guitar is beautiful and I love the lyrics and vocals. Great collab, guys.

That's beautiful, man…definitely one from the heart. Love Kari's sunny, pastoral-sounding guitars and of course your vocals make the lyrics shine.

Magic, if i didn't know you better, i'd have thought you'd found religion. The subject is pretty god-like.

Its a step up from a dispassionate universe.

Nicely done.

Thanks all.

This is a very sweet piece. I really like those thoughtful lyrics.

Thanks James! Really good job on lyric and vocals! This wasn't sure easy to sing because of "stop and go"-style guitar track. Thanks to all for commenting!

i had this tune on my microbr for a fortnight and couldn't find a way in. then one drunken night i set myself a challenge, when i said something somewhere to someone.

next day when i was sober, i thought oh! feck! but by then i had something to motivate me and a sort of deadline (i'm sure brian eno said you always need to work to a deadline or somesuch) to work to.

and then it all sort of happened, wrote the first line then the rest just came. Kari thanks for the music. and long live songcrafters and all who sail in her/him/thingy.
