Before Well

This poem was written sometime after a therapy session. The piano melody this drops into is one I'd kept in memory for years and finally put it to use with these lines. Seemed a perfect match to me at the time.

Before Well

I guarantee, it's going to need to pull me under,
A nightmare in all I bleed.
Don't ever think what I pay goes with ease.
There is hell before wellness and peace.

And I'm tired.
I've no reason to try.
Please, don't continue asking me why
When, through so much ruin I've already survived,
No one was there on the other side.

Great playing and singing on this - I dig how it all came together.

Have I mentioned that I love how your piano and voice sound in your recordings? I read in another thread where you mentioned about how you record them, and it certainly places the emphasis in the right places. I'm guessing it's a built-in compressor/limiter built in the recorder…I like it!
