help! why do i hear myself twice while recording??

Hi! I have a new mac book. And I think I have to change something in system preferences, because i hear myself twice while recording myself. The actual recording is when i listen  to it in the end just one voice. I use a usb mic but ive tested the situation with the internal mic and the internal output and there the same problem arose. Anybody that knows what it could be....?

Thanks blooby....but its not a delay problem I think.....
it seems to me that i hear two tracks, while im recording...
i tried it also with garageband...same problem.

maybe the laptop plays the signal in and out simultaneously....

Try turning off monitoring while recording.
