Thanks, dear Geir!
I'm particularly glad about this your comment, because yes, I've changed several things in this song (and also in the previous "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", with Hilary too).

As usual, for the instruments I cannot play (accordion, viola, electric bass) I've built the backing tracks with BIAB.

Acoustic guitar: I've recorded my Seagull in fingerpicking chords twice,  (first one on left, second on right). I've used the Seagull for the melody intro and 4th chorus,

BUT

(this is the first new thing)

I'v recorded the guitar using the SPLENDID Fishman Aura Spectrum DI

...and I can tell you that, yes, it's rather expensive, but my acoustic guitar has NEVER sounded better!
From the output of the Fishman into the guitar input of the BR-600, patch Acoustic Natural.

Second new thing:

for the mixing, this is the first time I've used Logic Pro X. Nothing else. I didn't understood how rich and *musical* this software is: there are several, wonderful, specifical mixing channel strips for each instrument (viola included!), and this is the result.
I'm aware, though, that I'm now just at the beginning of the learning curve with Logic, but if the result is this, it's absolutely worthwhile, I think...

Ciao e grazie
Alfredo

I've used a different recording technique for this one and Will the Circle be Unbroken too - just a tight EQ COSM. It's much better, much clearer and more natural but leaves nowhere to hide. Lucky I have my very, very special magic ingredient - Alfredo's mixing :D

Alfredo's put all this together at very short notice, I feel a bit guilty but not too guilty  ::) - it's the weekend, now you can sleep Mr Stone. Thank you so much :D

This has class all over it.  Beautiful playing, lovely instruments and vocals and fantastic mixing.  The whole package.  The song suits your voice Hilary.  You should do more of these.
