"The Honest Approach" a Hook original

Wrote this a few days ago & finally got a chance to record it today in Chrysler 300 Studios. It's LITLR, sony stereo mic into MBR.

The Honest Approach

I don't know much about Theory and such
but I guess I know more than a little
But I can strum chords in Chryslers and Fords
on instruments that somebody whittled

I believe in the honest approach
I say what I say with a handful of notes
Not out to change the world
But why sing if you don't want to be heard

I once felt formalized
Purrfect the steps and win the prize
But everything I try on doesn't seem to be my size
So I'll alter the shape style and cut all the ties

I believe in the honest approach
And one day I hope it gets me out of coach
But I think that my timing is late
Now let's have a Middle 8

To make a change
turn it all upside down
Change all the levels
To make a difference now
Add an extra beat and then take two away
And I'll say what i have to say

I have no degree to validate me
And I guess that bugs me a bit
But I write every day and challenge myself to play
A boat load of instruments

I believe in the honest approach
Maybe if I'm lucky my songs will live on with the roach
And maybe my songs will be
A new futures history

That is instantly my favourite Hook song - the lyrics speak to all us songcrafters - brilliant. Simple and sweet tune, and a really intimate recording. That took me straight back to Calabay Park and to Y'bor, and makes me want to play - that is a great song! Take a bow Bro.
