Inspired by some other songcrafters I had to try to make something orchestral in the iPad app, Notion.
I have wanted to do something norwegian for the folk fest and when I searched the net for something suitable I found the notes for this drinking song and thought why not.
The title means drinking  song :D

Drikkevise
W/M - trad.
Orchestra arranged in Notion, guitars, drums, bass and vocals - Jarle
Drikk min venn til natten ebber ut
Stikk så spunsten i sitt hull
og korken i sin tut.
Månen står der rød som gull.

Elsk min venn, til rosen blomstrer av.
Alle blomster skal bli jord,
du selv bli lagt i grav.
Kyss din mø til hun blir mor.

Spill min venn en kongelig musikk.
Smerten har sin fiolin
så skjenk den siste drikk.
Grav din grav og tøm din vin.

Wow! This is fantastic Jarle. That Notion app is really impressive and you sure know how to get the most out of it. And I love how it all turns heavy when the vocals come in. Excellent job.

I checked out the lyrics in Google Translate and they made me laugh. "insert spunsten in their holes"???  :D  ;D
"Kiss your maid until she becomes a mother"  :D  Probably Google Translate got some of it wrong.  :)

Drink my friend for the night ebbs
Then insert spunsten in their holes
and the cap in its spout.
Moon where red as gold.

Love my friend, the rose blooms off.
All flowers must be ground,
can even be put in graves.
Kiss your maid until she becomes a mother.

Play my friend a royal music.
Pain is her violin
so sideboard the last drink.
Dig your grave and pour your wine.

Actually the translation is pretty good.
The last verse is more like,

Play my friend a royal music.
Pain has it's violin
so pour the last drink.
Dig your grave and pour your wine.

Very nice use of Notion, a real medieval feel, well done.  And then the vocals, guitars and drums come in, sheet man, what a track.  I love this.

Fantastic!!!

Great orchestral intro!!

After the entry of vocals and guitars, I have the feeling to be into a movie, to listen to the powerful musical theme for Conan the Cimmerian!!!

Love it

Wow, that was amazing! Love how you combined the Notion part with instruments you played yourself. I agree with BB - real medieval feel to the score. And I rarely say this, but I also wish it was a bit longer!

Fantastic indeed !!

WOW !!!!!!
Really amazing arrangement Jarle. The intro is so well put together and the choice of instruments is perfect. Yeah, it gives a real medieval feel.

And the vocals are ome of your best so far I think. You sound very comfortable and confident.

EXCELLENT work brother!
