Frustration!

w/m Soft Cell / Marc Almond

Back in the heady day's of the Suggestfest, Hilary suggested I did a cover of Soft Cell's Tainted Love, which I did in a kind of rock'n'roll style. And had a lot of fun doing so.

This song is the one before it on the album; in fact it's the first track on their debut album.

I first heard the song back in the early eighties and I always had a vague feeling that they would someday be all too approriate to my life. And that time is now, I'm afraid to say.

I always wondered how Marc Almond managed to write the lyric at a young age; it occured to me whilst putting this together he might have been writing it about someone else - maybe his father or a colleague in some dead-end job.

This is also done in a kind of rock'n'roll style. There's a weird glitch thing at around 32 seconds which I don't understand.

I haven't been able to listen to this, iPad and embedded sound cloud player is not a happy combination - I can't find you on sound cloud either to listen to it there.

I hope to get to it soon

I really appreciate that you tried though.

It does frustrate me (no pun intended), the whole SoundCloud - m4a thing. The song was recorded in GarageBand on my iPhone, sent to Soundcloud as an m4a file over wifi, then shared to Song Crafters using the Wordpress reference. In work I can download the m4a from Sound Cloud, but Song Crafters won't upload an m4a file.

Stymied.

If I'd been able to get to my desktop at home I could have converted the file to an mp3 and uploaded directly here, or to alonetone.

I'm rather partial to Soft Cell and Tainted Love is my husband's favourite song (you did a fabulous cover btw) - just off to listen to this one . . .

. . . oh yeah he did write some fabulous lyrics didn't he. Another great cover Nick, full of bounce and energy.

Excellent job, Nick! I don't know the original but I like this.

I've updated our SoundCloud player so that it should now work on iPads. It uses HTML5 technology, so a recent browser version is required on all platforms. It won't work with ancient browsers because they don't support HTML5.
