Quote from: CraigLennon on February 04, 2014, 05:14:39 AMApparnetly UK copyright is established from the moment you physically CREATE the idea so it has to have a physical form it cannot be an "idea". You obviously just need the proof to back it up.

There's no brilliant way in the UK as far as I know, people still recommend posting whatever you want to protect to yourself, registered delivery and for the sealed envelope(s) to be opened by a solicitor should the said material be in dispute (which is what I've done with a couple of my songs and scripts). I'm in comedy, it's a minefield - blood would definitely be drawn if anyone was thought to be stealing someone else's jokes/songs etc. Apparently dates on documents and videos etc can be faked so are not deemed proof. I don't want to hi-jack your thread so I'll leave it there!

Bravo. Veramento molto bravo.

P.S....and congrats for the sound, it's perfectly balanced. Sounds really fantastic. Is it the Gibson J-45 you are playing here?

@ Hilary

I think it's just a case of the more proof you have the better really. I have everything that I feel I'd need to defend if needed. I think the individual masters and the instrumentation tracks + demos would be goo in most cases. I have all that aswell as the posted proof.

@ alfstone

Thank you very much mate! No that's not the J45 on this track. I'm still yet to record with it, not had it that long. This track features my Takamine in Standard tuning.

Nice work Craig, lovely song, very nicely performed and very well sung, you have a great voice.

Hilary's right about the copyright stuff, there's nothing you can do to "register" it in the UK. Having proof of when you performed/wrote it is helpful, so stuff like the master tapes with a dated invoice for the session and proof of payment from your bank account is all good. However, all of this counts for nothing unless you have lots of money. If you want to prove copyright infringement, you will have to bring a civil case which means paying lawyers. I know from bitter experience that it ain't cheap. No need to put the copyright symbol everywhere, copyright is assumed in the UK (assuming you are UK based, which you sound like you are).

Best of luck, this is good stuff.

Cheers all. @Ferryman, good detailed answer mate. I think I'll be fairly safe as it stands. It's not like there really is going to be anyone out there that would want to pinch my stuff. I'm unknown!
