Here's a link to an article and interview of a guy that has written 14,000 songs since 2008. That's about 100 songs per day! Not only does he write and record them, he makes about $25,000/year for doing it. They are short songs,  with quirky lyric, and amateur recordings but he's found a way to make money from them by just having the shear number of songs for sale on spotify and other places. He makes fractions of a cent per song or nothing but multiply that times thousands and it becomes substantial. I admire his creativeness and thinking outside the box approach! Check it out if you have some time to kill...it's an interesting interview. Let's see........I have about 13,900 songs to write yet, I had better get busy lol!

That is unfathomable to me.  Will check it out after work.

That's nuts! Inspiring in a way, but nuts! :)

btw, a correction to Bob Baker's arithmetic: 14,000 songs over 6 years is an average of about 6.4 songs per day, every day. But still, that is a tremendous number of songs, especially considering there have to be some dry days as well as the super-productive ones.

I saw this and read it and thought briefly about doing it, too. Then reality set in.

Interesting.

Cuthbert, you put me to shame. I read the 100 songs/ day and thought it was nearly impossible - there is only 24h in a day, and even if he repeated chords and song structure, he needs to eat, sleep, poo, etc. He could skip holidays and weekends, but for 4-5 years in a row?!?!

100 songs/ day didn't sound possible... I gave a lot of thought, but... I was lazy too do the maths... And that's what I do most in my day job...

Shame!

hmmmm....dunno. Maybe I'm in a bad mood or something, but it just looks like a dodgy advert to me....to write 100 songs in a day....that's one every 15 minutes in 24 non-stop hours....even the great ORH would struggle with those stats...Maybe it's a 'continent' thing but I couldn't find him on Spotify...you have to be a 'signed' artist to get y'shit on Spotify....and this fella ain't signed....don't wanna piss on anybodies strawberries*.....

I misquoted the article somewhat. It actually says Matt Farley has written 100 songs in a day but not every day. I agree, to write 100 songs a day consistently would be impossible. In the interview the interviewer gave him a topic and a few lines with a request to write and record a short song. He did it on the spot. It seemed to take about 5 or less minutes from start to finish.

Not to drag this out too long but here's another link that lists the band names he uses to put up his music. It's a long list of names.I found the first one, Moes Haven, on Spotify and Itunes. But....I didn't buy any, lol!

Yep, I remember from the article that there were multiple band names involved with his operation. I thought I heard Bob Baker mention "that's 100 songs a day" in the podcast, but I could be mistaken...I listened at work.

Regardless, I think it's an interesting story (still think he's nuts ;) ), and I definitely enjoyed listening and reading about it. Outsider approach, for sure.
