OK, not sure if this is legal to do or not, but I thought I would post a cover tune that I did years ago, to show how recording was done back in the day before digital.....Yes, it was on a 4 track cassette tape machine!

If you listen close, you can hear the tape warble which is kinda funny.  To get the bass line, I had to speed up the deck to double time and play the guitar, then when it was set back to normal speed, the guitar line was tuned down an octave.  The track also sounds really compressed.  I think this was from the bouncing but I'm not sure, I might have had an Alesis Nano Compressor.  I think the drums were done with a Boss DR Rhythm (DR5) and I might have programmed them really old school with midi.

The hard thing with analogue 4 track tape is the recording is destructive, meaning if you don't like the way you mixed a few tracks together when you hear it in the context of the whole song, you can't go back and change it, you have to re-do most of the whole song......very painful.

Legal!! If it's illegal then vive la revolution citizen!!
Very interesting to hear a cassette driven recording again.
I used to have an old Teac Portastudio myself, many moons ago, so I know what you mean about it's destructive nature.

Nicely performed song, great vocals.
Cheers for sharing

Pretty damn good quality for an old analog 4 track. My old recordings are full of tape hiss & 60 cycle hum.
Great playing, nice job on this tune!
