the pressure got to me, guitar playing is all over the place. i made a drum loop from samples, then played guitar and sang live over the drums, my guitar tuning and playing was all over the place, so i played same guitar thingy over the top of it all, hoping to hide my inadequacies but to no avail.

although this is my 1000th song post (according to my songplayer thingy) i don't know the actual amount of songs ive posted here or been involved in , so is probably more when you count collabs and stuff posted by others and stuff posted offsite.

so anyway as i say the pressure got to me trying to do something suitable for my 1000th song, so it is what it is. be gentle. after all i am an old rotten head.

the people in the know
immerse themselves in knowledge
education
their dedication
knows no bounds
they have their feet
planted
firmly on the ground
the people in the now
they're all living for the moment
in the present
yesterday
is forgotten
and the future
well that's still yet to come
the people who hold power
well they're hanging right on to it
won't let go
oh no
you can't have it
they'll fight for it
till they die
there's people just like you
and there's people just like me
can you believe
it's just too weird
to consider
but i insist sir
that it's true
but i don't know
that for sure
i'm just guessing
that's all that we can do

The song player includes all of your multiple versions of the same song. So it's really 1,000 MP3s rather than 1,000 songs. However, I'm sure it's much higher when you include all of your collabs.

New topics started by oldrottenhead
Original Songs: 712
Cover Songs: 120
Total: 832                      (so 168 re-posted MP3s!  tsk, tsk, tsk  ;))

New topics started by others that have the word "oldrottenhead" in the subject (presumably collabs)
Original Songs: 52
Cover Songs: 17
Total: 69

Hmmm.. that sounds too low. Maybe a lot of your collabs don't have your name in the subject.

Oh wait. Some people probably put "orh".

New topics started by others that have "ORH" in the subject
Original Songs: 76
Cover Songs: 48
Total: 124

New topics started by others with "jemima" in the subject
Original Songs: 33

Admin team collabs: 4

Grand total (832 + 69 + 124 + 33 + 4) = 1,062 songs

Still only an approximate figure though.

Well done Jim, let's pretend this is the 1,000th even though you are past that number in total really. Good lyrics, as a historian I can tell you it was always thus and will always be thus until the machines take over (Iain M. has a pretty good idea of what may happen with AIs....). It's the way we have evolved as social animals - we will always be organised in groups with leaders who may not necessarily do the "right" thing.

Enjoyed this, I like the sensitive vocal performance although the drums get a bit lost in the mix. Keep 'em coming!

Hilary

Oh James congratulations - you sure are a tour de force x
