Quote from: Redler on January 23, 2014, 10:48:39 AMIs BR-80 the last portable multi tracker that has been released? I'm wondering if portable multitracker/audio interfaces (like BR-80) doesn't have demand in the market anymore....?

I don't know. Unfortunately, the demand for hardware multitrackers does seem to be diminishing as more people turn to software DAWs. I don't expect any recorders from Roland because they've already made their NAMM announcements. But maybe TASCAM or Zoom will have something. The show only just started today and runs till Sunday, so there may be more interesting announcements over the next few days.

There have been several new audio interfaces announced.

I like this idea. Behringer has introduced two new MIDI keyboard controllers with 8 motorized faders (plus a 9th non-motorized fader). These faders are in 4 banks so you can mix a total of 32 tracks in your DAW. Very cool. $349 for the 49-key version and $449 for the 61-key version.

Combined with a good software DAW and a suitable audio interface, this would make a great recording system.

Behringer X-TOUCH Universal Control Surface  $599.99
http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/X-TOUCH.aspx

  • 9 touch-sensitive 100 mm motorized faders
  • 8 dynamic LCD Scribble Strips for instant overview of track names and parameters
  • 8 rotary controls with LED-collars for on-the-fly adjustments of your favorite parameters
  • 8-segment LED meters per channel for precise level control
  • Built-in 2x2 USB/MIDI interface for direct connection to Mac* or PC computers and one external MIDI device

I love the LCD Scribble Strips above each channel. You can customize the colour and description so you can quickly see what's recorded on each track. That's one thing I've noticed with standalone recorders is that I often forget where I recorded stuff. Did I put the lead guitar on track 3 or track 5? With this system, you don't have to guess.

Behringer X-TOUCH COMPACT Universal USB/MIDI Controller  $399.99

Thanks for that info Blooby. Cool stuff there. I didn`t realize there`s a digitech Whammy pedal for bass.

I don`t see anything from Line 6. Although they were bought by Yamaha which i hope doesn`t change their product.  >:(
