a man's a man for awe that

i am an island
i am a cloud
i am a teardrop
fallen to the ground
i am a lost soul
nowehere to turn
bereft
downtrodden
forgotten
alone
deserted
deported
invisible
to you
i am a shadow
hidden by the dark
you'll never hear me
never know me
i'm right here beside you
don't turn away
or scowl
and ignore me
or deplore me
i am you
i'm the same
but different
circumstances
fell upon me
i am an island
i am a cloud
i am a teardrop
fallen to the ground

Interesting lyrics. For some reason they make me think of the poetry of the beat generation of the 1940s and 50s. Not that I know anything about that poetry (so the comparison could be completely wrong) but that's what came to my mind as I read the lyrics. I like those unusual-sounding chords too.

Man, you write great lyrics....I love it!  And for a simple recording you really create a good mood, nice reverb, nice mix.....well done!

masterful Jim, you never cease to amaze me...prolific writing of wonderful songs! The lyrics are thought provoking and the delivery is sublime, bravo

i used pretty simple two fingered chords, not sure if they have names or not. chords 1 and 2 where repeated at intro and verses and chords 3 , 4, 5 and 4 again at the (for want of a better word) chorus.

A very real and earthy performance, great lyrics that fit the part chord structure perfectly.  Roscoe

i thought i should give this song a bigger production. however replicating the spontaneity of the live take proved difficult.

i think using a drum track was a mistake, anyway here is what comes out when i try to plan things.
