Very nice jig Alfstone! Your playing and guitar sound are both excellent!

On the 1980 Takamine 12 string...you have a real winner. Most folks, like you, once they have one they never get rid of it. They sound great and hold their value well. Is it a 400 model? These days Takamine makes both cheap and expensive guitars but the vintage ones like yours are not considered cheap quality. I bought a 1979 Takamine 360S 6 string with built in pickup and pre new in 1979. It's the best sounding acoustic of the four that I have and it sounds better the older it gets.

Dear Farrell,

thanks, but it's a TAMAKI, not Takamine...I would be glad to know something more about it, but...

Ciao!

Cool  :) I like the 6/8 vs. 3/4 rhythm feel. Love it.

Oops my mistake Alfredo! I've not heard of the Tamaki brand at all. Now I have a quest to find out about it. I'll let you know if I have any success.

Hi Alfredo, here's what I've found out in my search for the Takami Guitar brand: It apparently was made in Japan by
Kawai Teisco Company.

Kawai Teisco was founded by Atswo Kaneko and Doryu Matsuda. The company also produced the popular Ibanez badge in the 1960's. Kawai Teisco made their own house brands Kawai, Teisco, Del Rey and Teisco Del Rey. Badged guitars produced by the Kawai Teisco factories include Apollo, Aquarius, Arbiter, Atlas, Audition, Avar, Ayar, Barth, Beltone, Black Jack, Cipher, Concert, Cougar, Crown, Daimaru, Decca, Diasonic, Domino, Duke, Emperador, Heit Deluxe, Hy-Lo, Holiday, Imperial, Inter-Mark Cipher, Jedson, Kay, Kent, Kimberly, Kingsley, Kingston, Keefy, Lindell, Marquis, May Queen, Minister, Noble, Prestige, Randall, Recco, Regina, Rexina, Sakai, Satellite, Schaffer, Sekova, Silvertone, Sorrento, Sterling, Swinger, Tele Star, Top Twenty, Victoria, and Winston. Possible badged guitars made by the company include: Astrotone, Demian, G-Holiday, Lafayette, Master, Orange, Tamaki and Trump. "Tamaki Co. Ltd. since 1954"

Also here's a question from someone in gearhead: So you know there's at least one more like yours out there.

Anyone heard of 'Tamaki' guitars???

Hi,
A pawn shop near me has a 12string acoustic with Tamaki on the headstock.
Has anyone heard of this brand before.
It would be nice to know whether it's a 'good' Japanese one or a dud!
cheers

Frank

That's about all I could find. Cheers!
