Opps - Mod can this be moved to cover songs - sorry!

Robert Burns song, Hilary suggested this one - its the Eddi Reader version of an old, old song. I love Eddi Reader.

Tough song to cover - but Mrs F came through with some great vocals.

Thanks guys - have been a bit slow of late, Hilary woke me from my slumber.

Redler - its a violin. Infact the solo violin is a miked up violin, where as the background strings are the GR-20 played on my strat, as is the accordian :)

Hook - thanks Bro, some would say I'm always on the 'fiddle' :-)

So what I learned from this (this is always useful - and something we should do more off on this site - just a suggestion though)!

- Record the violin with one cup off the headphones - hearing you pitching is so much better
- Think hard before recording against the original track. I did this as the song structure was irregular, and the timing is all over the place. Without visual queues, this is really hard.
- For strings on the GR-20 use the swell/volume pedal - as the guitar picking volume can be really difficult to control
- Record the acoustic as two seperate track panned hard left and right, it gives a richer sound (to be fair, I tend to do this anyway)
- For a finger picking track and some strums to add some body
- practice piece before recording :)

Thats about it
