Do you modify your guitars?

All of my guitars get a bit of work done on them from time to time. A friend of mine is a pretty serious guitar doctor who does a lot of work for most of the main guitar stores in Sydney and I've got that man on speed dial. Any new guitar I get my grubby hands on goes straight to the doctor for a set up, (it's amazing the difference a properly set up guitar can make, so many 'new' guitars are set up very poorly).

I live in an area that has very high humidity and it affects your guitars in a most heinous fashion. Most of my main axes will go in for a tune up (set up) atleast every 12-18 months as I find poor intonation and neck warp to be a major hassle. Pick ups is another thing that often get swapped out of new (mostly cheaper) guitars. Any new guitar with a floating bridge get's drilled into place as soon as i've got it set up just how I like it. I love me some brass saddles, particularly on my teles so that often gets swapped out as well.

I do very little work myself, (except for restringing) due to lack of time and talent in that particular area.

My advice to anyone out there is, find yourself a good guitar doctor and stick with them.
Warmest regards,

Captain Jimbo
