It's Raining (NSFW) - Recording Challenge 2014

I've started a recording challenge for 2014... a self imposed challenge similar to the song a week challenge of 2010 but I'm aiming to make a decent recording most every week (with maybe a couple of weeks off.) This song was written yesterday in about thirty minutes, recorded in a couple of hours and mixed in a couple of more. Any thoughts are welcome. I'm looking to improve the recording/mixing skills this year so you can give me the tough love if you want.

I feel so god damn empty
Like there's nothing left of me
I gave you all I had
Now I live in entropy
And it's raining
Raining down on empty streets
Don't mean to rain on your parade
But there's nothing left of me

I feel so god damn empty
Just like a hollow tree
My last leaf is falling
I've lost all of my green
And it's raining
Raining down on fallen leaves
Don't mean to rain the whole damn day
But there's nothing left of me

I feel so god damn empty
There's no anger left in me
I gave you all my love
But you still set me free
And it's raining
Rain is all that I can see
I fell so god damn empty
'Cause there's nothing left of me

Nice one!  I like it a lot.  Regarding the recording, I don't have a lot to offer, but I heard on a podcast that it's a good thing to record 2 guitar parts and pan them to opposite sides.  The parts can be exactly the same or a bit different, but they should be actually played as opposed to copying a track.  I've been doing this and it seems to work really good.

You can check it out on Don't Let Me Drown.  If you put on earphones, you will hear that the distorted (w/delay) guitar is on the left and the clean (w/chorus) is on the right.  I think because they were so different, it didn't sound right it didn't sound right to do a 100% full stereo pan (50 on my dial), so I panned them to about 25 or 30.

I loved the song and the arrangement and the acoustic guitar solo. I'd like to hear the bass line up a bit. Also I hear some backing ooooh, wah wah oooohs in my head.

Cool, had me jumping around  8)

I think it sounds terrific as is - the bass is up high enough to drive it along without dominating the tune and combined with the acoustic picking and drums, they make great combo for the vocal to ride atop.

Also, these "quick" tunes always seem to be the best ones, imho.

That,s an excellent tune really rocks along, cool as you like, only thing i,d change is the acoustic solo. I,d go for a tele sounding blues sound, but that,s only my opinion, still love tune!!
