My buddy Everett came over yesterday to record. We wasted a bit of time in an effort to try to come up with something to do when he started playing "Wichita Lineman," one of my favorite tunes. I had him play the guitar (the rhythm Strat) to a click track, and then I spent the day building the track around that. I should have titled it "Fun with Reverberation." I guess I was going for an older vibe.

The thing I'm most happy with is that I finally justified the purchase of a Danelectro baritone. The thing has been sitting in a corner for a year. Nothing quite sounds like it when it's called for, though.

Love the sound of that baritone Danno! Made to be sunk in reverb. Great cover, Blooby - Jimmy Webb is a fine songwriter who I've always admired.

Nice cover Blooby -  I remember my dad used to play this a lot when I was a youngster and, as you do, I always pretended I didn't like it cause its not cool to like the same music as your parents.  Secretly I've always thought it was quite an epic song and funnily enough i was thinking about it the other night, looked up the chords and had a bash at it to see if it was worth me doing a cover!  Don't think I could do as cool a version as you've done so I'll sit back and enjoy yours instead!

Seriously cool cover, played via my iTunes player and the next track to come on was . . . Nobody Does it Better - how apt!

I think John and I are going to properly record it one of these days, but I would be honored if you would have a go.

I've attached one of my live cheat sheets of the song if anybody wants it. FYI, I think I do the opening a little differently.

Thanks for the comments, folks.
