I have a buddy that plays in a small trio.  The acoustic guitar and bass is augmented by a cajon, and the mix is really great.  The guy can actually keep time as well, which is always nice.

Seen them used on many a gig and easy to pack away at the end of a gig.

A friend drummer of mine bought a Cajon from DrumWright in reading. He's a bloody good drummer and has a real sense of playing it just right. I must say, with a tambourine attached to his foot, it sounds like a full drum kit, blinking amazing. Love em
