Was thinking about the process...wrote this in about a half hour earlier this afternoon & recorded later this afternoon, all in Chrysler 300 Studios. I used the stereo mic into the MBR & had it sitting about armrest high in the passenger seat. It's a bit boxy sounding to me, i usually would have it on the dash so perhaps it's a placement issue...still feeling out the new studio. Anyhow i dig this odd little mixed meter tune. The verse is in 4/4 & the chorus is in 6/8 with the random 3/4 measure tossed in.
1 uke/vocal (stereo)

Simple Song
written & performed by Hook
I'll try to do it just like everyone has done before
Follow these steps for a hit
I'm going to nail it to the floor
No there's nothing wrong with wanting to Cash in
I'll say what you want me to say as long as there's money to spend

but there I go taking things too far and then beyond
And I alienate any of the people that want to follow along
And sing a song

It's probably discipline that's holding me back
Because creative vision is not something that that I lack
I can see in about 12 different directions at one time
The checking off each little square
seems such a waste of time

& there I go taking things too far and then beyond
I alienate any of the people that want to follow along
And just sing a song
if they want they could just hum along
To a simple song

but there I go taking it too far and then beyond
I realize all I ever wanted was someone
to sing along
And if they want they could just  hum along
To my simple song

Aah, working out the kinks in the new studio, eh? :)

To my ears, it's a good quality sound recording.

I think you have done well.  It sounds good and the song itself is really good too.  I like how you mixed it up on the uke with the melody line and and the strumming.  You have made me think that I might ask for a uke for christmas.

What sort of uke is it?  It has a nice tone.

Thanks guys for the very kind words.

Ian it's an Epiphone Les paul uke

It's not the best acoustic uke but it's the cheapest electric uke available. I paid $100 but have noticed this year they raised the price $30.You should definitely get one, super fun & nothing inspires like a new instrument. The Les Paul is a concert size but a tenor uke is a little bit bigger and has a great feel. If you want the pick up then the  Les is an affordable way to go but check out Lanikai or Kala both great(better) quality ukes!

Rock On my brothers!
