I got my Micro BR today in the mail, I really should read over the manual but I was anxious to try it out and luckily I have experience with the Roland VS multi track recorders so this wasn't to hard to figure out.

There is still plenty I need to learn and reading the manual later tonight will do some good. I uploaded the data direct from the sd card into a SD card reader and opened it with the BR to wav software one track at a time in Sonar. I didnt edit levels, add effects etc... just used sonar to pan. I converted the Stereo .wav file from Sonar then the .wav was rendered to mp3 with Sony Soundforge, where I added the fade in/out with that as well, otherwise, sound is totally unaltered.

This set up was the Micro BR using only it's built in mic to 3 tracks of a cheap Yamaha steel string I have grwon to tune a very odd way and a forth track of me using the body of the guitar for percussion.

I recorded in front of a brick fireplace for the acoustics and tried to get the crackling fire in the background, which for the most part got buried out, but that is the extra noise you here ate the beginning.

The playing is on the fly and after too many drinks, I just like the way the mic picks up so far, and cant wait to take some field trips with this thing.

Yes, you can upload individual tracks recorded on a Micro BR song and then edit them on Cubase SX. See here how to do this.

Awesome recording you've got there. The theme is very mystic and has a great eastern feel to it, indeed. The guitars mix very well to create that mystic and somewhat dramatic bed of sound. I liked it. My girlfriend liked it too.

The recording itself is awesome, the guitars are extremely well recorded and sound great! I was very impressed with the quality of the sound. I even thought to myself, man, he must have gotten a better built-in mic than me. :D

Overall, it is a great piece of work and thanks a lot for sharing this. By the way, you can upload your MP3 files to the forum too. The limit is 4MB.

Keep them coming.  :)

The BR to Wave converter 2.0 software is what I used that is linked it the FAQS/Tutorials at this site. I just open them to a new folder on the desktop to keep things in track and import the wave files one by one to their own track in Sonar, should work the same for any recording software, Cubase i am sure of.

Thanks, that is the atmosphere I like to go for with this project and it is always good to hear when people understand it.

The built in condensor mic seems to work as nice as I had imagined. I think I just have to try different placement settings to get a better feel for it. I am still in a state of awe with this thing going "wow I can go anywhere I want and record with this". I guess I will make some use out of my time off of work.

I need to order the stereo mic and try to build a couple mic's for some other uses I have for this thing, I guess I was just waiting to get a hands on trial run to see if it was worth it, if only they made these with rechargeable batteries, I see I am going to be buying a lot of AA's

I use mine with rechargeable batteries from a charger kit I bought for about $15. The kit included the charger and 4 rechargeable AA's. I think you should get one these too.

Sounds like a good plan, in my experience rechargeable batteries never seem to last as long, aprox. how much battery life do you get with rechargeables?

Oldrottenhead

hi guys thanks for the link to the software for converting tracks to wav and importing to cubase, the drum arranger looks interesting too, have yet to use either progs yet, so i can see another learning curve ahead but one im looking forward too, cant wait to get the waens to bed so i can expiriment.
this site is the business thanks to all.

regards using rechargeable batteries pay a little extra for high performance batteries, like you would use in a digital camera, i use 2800mah ni-mh batteries, got a 4 pack off ebay for £10.00 uk sterling inc p&p and 2 fully charged batteries last me the best part off a day, and thats using it as an mp3 player getting lots off use easily 4 hours playtime in total for each pair.
i had other common or garden rechargeables and i was lucky to get an hour from them, so there was always two batteries in the charger, i have a boss mains adapter and i think ive used it once, the less wires the better is my policy.
here is  link to ebay with search results for "2800mah"
