ReverbNation . . .

Well I've succumbed and joined ReverbNation. I'll be honest, I don't like it much - I don't like the display and I don't like the constant spamming from them but I know some Songcrafters can't load the songs from Soundcloud (which I do like).

Anyway, dipped my toe in and loaded one song   - also done the reverb page thing on facebook  

I know some of you use it a lot, so if you have any tips - I'd love to hear them - already had one question about who is in the band, but that was me clicking on the wrong button  

I've gone under singer/songwriter   as I figured I probably won't exactly be loading a lot of comedy stuff . . .

The links are on the bottom of my signature if anyone wants to check it out (no I can't get the damn things to line up!) - crikey I'm good!

Hi Hilary I've been (and still am) on Reverbnation for over a year.

You'll have to make up your own mind over a period of time but I've found it pretty pointless.

You'll get lots of fans but they'll be almost exclusively other artist members wanting you to fan them back and swell their statistics and they will rarely listen to your material unless you check out their stuff and post comments. So you'll get Rappers and heavy metallers registering as pseudo fans.

I've not put anything on my profile page for some time, hardly ever check it, but am still in the top ten Singer/songwriter for my local area.

Don't let me put you off but I've found S/C to be much more rewarding.

I like it for the red star uh! nea: it's very easy to have statistics, that I find very useful - it register the average % of each song played, so even if you've got 1.000 plays on one song but 20% average time means that ... ok, I know you know what it means LOL.

I know what you mean Bazz - I like Soundcloud too, although I do have 1 slight issue (this isn't a joke, it's true) - I get followed by scantily clad women with their boobs hanging out and short skirts. Funny enough they never post any music of their own but are always 'lonely'. As far as I can tell, I can ban them contacting me, but I can't ban them following me

I must admit I'm not a big fan or Reverbnation or Soundcloud.  Maybe there's something I've missed but Soundcloud feels like locking your music away rather than sharing it with the world.  Since I joined Soundcloud I've had a total of 507 plays of my songs.  I joined Alonetone later and my play count there is currently 13,786.  Fair enough I don't use Soundcloud as much as Alonetone, but that's because I don't really like it.

I think I did sign up with Reverbnation and lost interest very quickly.  And I seem to remember being on Soundclick for a while to.  Not sure what happend to that.

Maybe Alonetone is the way to go, but this scares me on the music uploader . . .

Ok - I've loaded one up to ReverbNation and Alonetone as a test (I like the display a lot better in Alonetone) so we'll see . . .
