Done mostly in Rental Studios yesterday. 2 uke/vox tracks, one using ps02 as a mic & the uke also going direct into the MR8 & another one done with the sony mic into the mbr into the MR8. There are some traffic sounds but that's just what happens when you record in the car.
1 uke/vocal (pso2)
1 rythm uke
1 arpeggio uke
1 solo uke
1 uke/vox (mbr-stereo)
1 bowed bass (TJ)
1 viola (TJ
1 drums (YDD60-stereo)

Very enjoyable listen this Sunday morning. Nice ukes and I love the ThumbJam bits. The vocal sounds great too. It seems to have some reverb and EQ on it to good effect. Gives it a crisp, clear sound.

Love it,one of my favourites and I even done a version of this long before the fest.
This has the hook edge to it, talking about the edge :) if you listen to the structure of this song at the beginning it sounds like all I want is you.
I know U2 were fans of the velvets,,,,,,,,,just saying :)

Super cool cover - one of my faves from their first album, too.

Loved the vocals and the tone you got on your ukes here, and those TJ additions are very tasty. And dude, I'm getting GAS from those Yamaha DD drums!

I think (& I could be wrong) that the eq sound comes from the fact that it's a uke/vox doubled. I did the initial mono take through the ps02 with a pretty heavy reverb effect & the 2nd is pretty much clean stereo take through the mbr. So the effected mono track is kind of panned within the stereo clean track. I was really pleasantly surprised with the results.

The rythm uke was clean, straight into the MR8, the arpeggio & solo tones came from the ps02.

I'm so glad to have them. It's not the perfect set up but at least I can play my drum track rather than program it. It's just plain fun also and takes up next to no space. I really need to spend a few hours programming some personal kits, soon hopefully. I'm not sure there worth the $200+ I see them going for new but if you can find a used one for under $100 I'd go for it. The pedals are the weakest part, bass drum more so than the high hat. I don't have the most exciting right foot but it's a bit harder to keep consistent than with a regular bass drum pedal. I did try to plug in my other pedal I have for punch in recording (it's a keyboard pedal with a switch on the bottom to choose between sustain or off/on), the guy at SamAsh said it would work but he was wrong. In fact he spouted out a bunch of info that proved to be quite wrong. Don't trust the slick, self assured dumb-ass at the big box store!

Thanks again for listening!
Rock on!

Wow!

Rental Studios seem a little larger than Nissan Sentra Studios, I'm guessing it's SUV Rental Studios as opposed to Mini Rental Studios.

Which ever it is, this is a few moments of heaven.

Nice one Hooky.  Glad to see you're up and running in temporary accommodation.  Aches and pains okay?
