Getting Started with Backing Tracks Playing Through My Amp w/ GT10!

Started by WILLIEJ, March 04, 2009, 06:24:44 AM

Hi!
I'm new to this site, first post so here it goes.......

I recently picked up a micro-br and have been playing for a while but never really recorded too much though in the past. I have owned the Boss GT8 and now the GT10 and would like to use it for recording of course but also for playing along with the backing tracks and drum patterns. I do NOT want to play throught the headphones but use it kinda for now kinda like a one man band thing.
A friend of mine who had the micro-br before me aldready showed me how to plug into my amp using ther headphone jack so at least I know how to hook it up to my amp to get sound coming through the amp. Can someone explain easily to me how to use the backing tracks and drum patterns to start playing with them and just having some fun??

Thanks,
WJ

Welcome to the forum Willie!

You need to have loaded the mp3 backing tracks to your SD card.  You can do this either by USB cable (drag files to mp3 folder), or by using and SD card reader and dragging the files to mp3 folder.  Next, after powering up your MBR push the mp3 trainer button to access mp3 mode. You can use the value buttons to scroll through your mp3s.  Once you've picked your mp3, you can set up effects for your guitar by pushing the effects button and scrolling through the effects to find what you're looking for.  Then, just press the play button and off you go!

As far as using the rhythm section, first you need to create a new song--Press utility, select "Song" by pressing TR1, select "New" by pressing TR2, select the type of file you want to use by using the value buttons, select "EXE" by pressing TR4.  Once your song is created you can press the Rhythm button and scroll through the different beats (you'll need to press play to hear them).  Once you've selected the groove you want to jam to, press play and have fun!

I highly recommend the search feature of this forum and especially reading the manual.  Both of these procedures are detailed in the manual and are easy to understand.

Good luck!
Cheers!

Tim
