yea, now I finally have a home recording mean, that is to say condenser mic zoom h1. I use it as a mic ignoring his recording capacities cause I plug in directly in the PC and happily use Audacity as you know. So let me know how thi mic records in your opinion (no effects here, just the sound of guitar and voice unadjusted)

uh, it's still a song LOL. here's lyrics

Second Nature

I never think about it
It never enters my mind
The reasons that i love you
I don't search to find

Coz it makes no difference
Whatever the outcome
No matter how it's factored
You're always number one

Loving you is easy,i don't have to try
It's not a game where i play for a prize
Loving you is like, second nature to me,yea
I can honestly say it comes, naturally, naturally

You're my sunshine in the morning
You are my breath of fresh air
You're my shelter when it's storming
I know you'll always be there
Coz it makes no difference, whatever the outcome
No matter how it's factored, you're always number one

Loving you is easy,i don't have to try
It's not a game where i play for a prize
Loving you is like, second nature to me,yea
I can honestly say it comes, naturally, naturally

I can honestly say,it comes
Naturally

Oh my I thought it was delightful - did you record guitar and voice separately or simultaneously? It's difficult to get the mix right between picking and strumming and the vox when live but you managed it well. If you recorded them separately, I would have brought the guitar up in the mix a bit in the picking sections.

As far as the mic goes, the acoustic sounds fabulous and so does your voice - you are on to a winner there!

thanks , you're too kind.
@girl with changing name: when I bought the mic I tought it solved some problems, but, I find - and you confirm to me - that it creates a lot more: you have to learn to use it,or, better, if you want to record yourself you've got to learn the whole chain. For example I agree with you on the mix levels (they are recorded separately just to take control over the realtive levels). Let me know other things, I'm a newbie LOL ...

Oh crikey it's a whole can of worms with a condenser mic - there's a thread on here somewhere with my early endeavours - I'll try and dig it out for you.

Fabulous song and so beautifully played and sung! The final result sounds fine - top class mic on h1. The outro was just great!

Very nice song - recording an acoustic guitar is very, very difficult - particularly to get the balance right. The normal wisdom is to point the microphone to the 12 fret about 12 inches away - however, trust your ears. I don't think there is a right or wrong way, just what you like. This was a very mellow sounding guitar, right for the song imo - so cool. But I'd experiment with placement, to get to know your microphone and your guitar. BTW, my current method is a single condenser at 45 degrees, pointing between the hole and the heel, upside down (don't ask). I double track it (two takes) - and pan hard left and right - but if you ask me next week, I'll have a different method - every day is a school day :-)

thanks! bruno made me laugh, way too fun! hope you dont put the guitarist upside-down LOL remember something like this by Lennon trying to imitate the leslie sound and the mic being hang up and oscillating in fornt of the mouth (was it him?). Anyway I will try your system, seems interesting! I've heard you have to point the mic to the 12th fret if you want the guitar not to sound boomy, at the distance you say.
