This is off his New York album & I recorded it entirely on my "new to me" MR8. I'm still getting the hand of it but all in all it seems like an OK machine. I will post more of a review after a few more recordings. I did the song live uke/vocal using the on board mic and also plugged the uke in direct. It's not a bad mic but I had to have the trim up all the way and it bottoms out around 8 o'clock which I find weird in fact all the dials, trim, pan, effects all seem to have no gradualness to them. The slightest turn and it's a major change. The faders however work very well. I bounced 4 tracks to 5/6 using the mastering effect called powerful. The bass seemed fine in the mix on headphones & playing in audacity but in windows media it seemed way to loud so please let me know what you think of the mix.

I don't know the original, but man this is terrific!

Love the overall "dry" sound of the mix (you can hear every detail, and they're really worth noting - the uke and bass and the drums are all locked-in together and clean), and your voice and phrasing on this are very "Lou".

Nice one, Hook!

Your new machine sounds sweet brother - great sounding tune, mix with the bass sounds fine to me. Love the vocals on this - they have a degree of swagger, which I love. Plus the drums give it a less static feel, the music really flows. Very cool, enjoyed this loads - off for another listen :-)

Great job, Hook. I don't know the original but it sure sounds like a Lou Reed song. You've got his vocal style down pat. Nice drumming too.

I do know this song, I bought the album it's from when it first came out, it's a brilliant album, Lou did a lot of great albums leading up to this one and after it, well worth checking out in my opinion.

This is an ace version of the song, Hooktastically good, love the vocal delivery. Well done Hook you have made this your own, was a pleasure to listen to it, think I'll need to go dig out the original now as well :-D
