I am 62 and our garage band recorded this original song in 1967; 45 years ago at Bell Sound studios in NYC. We rode our ampeg amplifiers down the ramps in the Subway. It was our summer of love. We could only afford 1 take. I have the 1/2" master tape and digitized it. I am amazed at the chords that are so simple but ingeniously different. My 66' Strat now gone is probably worth 10 grand. Had this little vox overdrive plugged into the Gemini II. My friend was in charge of turning it off and missed by 1/2 beat. Still in recent touch will all except the drummer. Great memories. Thanks for listening.

Wow. Although this site is about what's being recorded at the moment - this is super to listen to. Thanks for posting. This sounds really fresh, and some people spend a fortune trying to re-create that sound and vibe. Brilliant - you can hear the years float away!

One take?  You must have been well rehearsed!

Thanks for sharing.  You captured a great sound.

If you guys are still playing you should have another go at it and see if you can reprise the old tune.

Crikey, what a great story and listen, that is remarkable! I agree the sound is still fresh 45 years later!

Doesn't quite belong in this part of the forum but it was great to hear this and also the back story. You are a few years older than me but my early years of playing and recording have the same similar naive innocence about them. Things were so different back then. Love the track, love the fuzz guitar sound, really nice playing as well. Ah memories......

Cheers,

Nigel

Very clean production - and yeah, groovy too! Did this ever get a vinyl release?

By the time you made this my pro career had been over by 3 years :'( :'( :'( :'(. Bloody hell I'm old....just been told I've been nursing a double hernia for over 40 years which probably comes from carrying a bass cabinet around. ::)

great sounds typical of the era. It must be great to have such a good recording to hand down to posterity.

Good stuff.
