BR-800 vs BR900CD rhythm tracks

On my BR900CD I set up a click track by picking a drum pattern. After my song was done I would bounce all my tracks to 7/8 while manipulating the Drums i.e. intro, verse, fill, ending in real time so that the mixed version on 7/8 would have the entire song with drum variations ready for Mastering. I am not seeing an easy way to do this on the BR-800 unless I missing something very basic. Guitar 64 where are you!!!! :'(

I think you can do that on the BR-800 but I'm not certain as I don't have access to a BR-800 to check it out. Maybe Geir or one of the other BR-800 users can let us know.

After you've entered Mastering mode and pressed REC and PLAY, press the RHYTHM button and follow the instructions for "Playing Patterns" on page 91 of the BR-800 manual. The only reason I can think of that it wouldn't work is if the BR-800 won't let you enter the RHYTHM screens while the recorder is playing. If that's the case, you'll get a "Stop recorder!" error message. If that happens, then I guess you can't change rhythm settings while mastering.

That is indeed the message i am getting "stop recorder" which renders the Patterns useless. I ordered the DVD tutorial to see if there is a work around.....but to become a computer geek while trying to lay down tracks kind of defeats the purpose....and the mood is lost. I understand it is impossible to get 100% of what you need in a gadget that costs about $300 so I am not complaining. I don't like waste and those cool drum patterns are locked in the unit. I assume an external drum machine plugged into the Line In input would be one possible  work around??? Thanks for your quick reply.

I'll have to test it to be 100% sure, but I'm quite certain it can't be done. And the reason I think so is because when I program my drumtracks on the BR800 I'm always pissed that can't listen to the recorded tracks when playing the drumtracks.

The "live" programming isn't a big issue for me as I always program the drums, but I really would like to get a firmware update to make it possible to listen to the audio-tracks while selecting drum-patterns.

I am noodling with rhythm editor and I can't find what I want to do. I want to listen to the song I created while adding the intro verse fill and ending of my drum pattern into the song. I assume I would be creating a new patch unique the song?  The key is to do this while listening to the song so I don't have to calculate measures or do it blind. If this is possible could someone share with me the key strokes? If not is there a simple drum machine out there that will let me do the work around? If not does the br1200 emulate the br900 with respect to drum tracks?

To confirm. It's not possible to use the drum editor while in mastering mode on the BR80 either.

You should be able to listen to the song, then go into the onboard  drum editor and stop the pattern, change it to a fill at the point you wish to. As the song is playing you should be able to bring up the rhythm screen and as the song plays you can see the steps in real time, you then just stop the recorder and put a fill, end, break or whatever. Not quite that simple but thereabouts. Once you find a fill and insert it, the next step will start with a break so you have to switch back to a pattern/fill, work out how long you want it or play the song till you know then insert and carry on. This is how the BR80 works but having not owned a 800 I don't know if it still uses the start on step 1 like the old  BRs do.
