Hi Haylie, bought a 65 watt Crate combo for 40 quid from gumtree, used it for electric and acoustic, can,t fault it, should come with a three way foot switch, clean, distort and reverb, great value, about the size of a 20 kilo suit case and it,s plenty loud, needs to be plugged in though, might be a problem if there is no power supply.

they are £219 new (you got a great deal there John) and sorry to go all girlie but mine's 9.2kg (I looked it up) and still a bit heavy (shouldn't have admitted to that one!) - I'm giggling now coz I sound really pathetic  :o

Alternatively - this will fit into you guitar case - and runs off of batteries - and is pretty good for plugging into the PA.

I'm confused  ??? - isn't that just a posh DI box - I'm going to get a DI box but wanted an amp just in case the DI box won't work (because the PA system is too far away in the venue or whatever)

Yeah - its a posh (not really, Behringer is cheap) DI box. Depends if there is a PA there or not. If not then you will need a mike input.

Well I've phoned up two music shops - our local one recommends the Roland Street Cube which is £245 and still only 5 watts but the reviews are good and the chap I was talking to uses one for busking!

Based on that recommendation I'll probably go for the Roland Mobile Cube Portable Amp at £125 which is still only 5 watts but significantly cheaper - I figure if I try it out and don't like it/it's not suitable I can send it back  ::)

I'm going to get a bog standard DI box (passive) Bruno - because all those buttons just put me off  ;D and let's face it, I don't do anything fancy.

Also ordered a foldable guitar stand and some cables with a kill switch - all I need now are some gigs  ???

Thanks guys  ;D

Dawsons at Reading have got one I can try out if I want, but I'd be a bit self conscious playing my stuff at Dawsons  ::)
