Thanks for suggesting this, Haylie, it's always been one of my seminal songs.

Nearly all GarageBand apart from the bass, for which I am grateful to ThumbJam, and a real live tamborine.  And my croaking vocal contribution, which is unavoidable.

Fan-bloody-tastic - I congratulate myself for my choice of song and performer (ha ha)

I caught this as a WIP on Soundcloud and loved it, particularly the bass - you've taken it to another level now.

Nice one Nick - 9{}

Cool cover, love that double bass sound, sort of gives it a Cure vibe which I really like.

You really breathed some life into this tune brother. Through massive overplay over many, many years I really didn't think I'd enjoy listening to it ever again but what a slick, cool version you've made. The organ & bass is outstanding and your vocal is really captivating.You are a GB master my friend, what are you using for a mic?
Rock On!

I put the whole thing together in GB (including the ThumbJam bass over audiobus) then record that as a stereo pair onto my Zoom R16 (not ideal but does the job).  I didn't apply any insert effects this time to that.  Then I added the vocal to another track on the Zoom.  I have an cheap non-branded moving coil (I think) mic which I've had for around 20 years.  I do a few things with EQ and add an insert effect in the Zoom. Likewise for the backing vocal and tamborine.  Then I applied a Master effect at the end; getting the GB track to integrate with the others has been an issue in previous recordings.

So good! Great cover, Nick. You've given it an original twist, and the double bass is a superb addition. Fine, fine, fine.
