Something of an experiment. From over in the Poetry Thread in GD.

UNIONS

At Central Street, a wedding group,
Its Civil duty duly done.
(A legal climax achieved)
Is now at the camera-in-the-courtyard-stage,
As I continue passing through,
Tremulous, to a rendezvous.

Bride and Groom, I presume,
Central, and half-ribald in
Exclamation -
She, un-demure, shrieks with suggestion
At the loud woman in the wide-brimmed hat:
'Oh, mam, give over!'.
While He, wedded, draws deeply on his first
Husband cigarette.

They're only kids, I think to myself,
What future have they got?
As they all line up reluctantly, for -
'Just one more, with Aunty Dot'.

Just kids. But even I must know, surely -
That they are the future. Because a future
Must be, somewhere. Unsurprisingly,

The normally-cold receptionist spies me,
Singly, as I enter the short corridor.
She ventures, human and warm:
'Go right in, would you. The doctor has your results.'

It's not what I was expecting but very interesting. Good to hear your voice/accent and your phrasing. The poem's very clever and intelligent.

Have you thought about writing a novel?

If ever I were to have a writing partner it would be you Stevie!

Sometimes it is nice to hear some unexpected track! The poem is fine! Backround noises put some excitement to this!

Oh my, I'm getting soft in my old age, this actually raised a tear to these old eyes. When members take the time to post lyrics I nearly always read them as poetry. I think lyricists do write quite amazing poetry whether they know it or not. Steve I would enjoy more of your work if you could point me in the right direction. Roscoe

Thanks for the comments Peeps.  ;)

Haylie I've sent you a PM about yer query.

I actually hand-held the microphone and walked around the room while reciting this, trying to convey the breathlessness of passing-by a wedding. Not too sure yet if I've got the level right.

In the UK, the Doctor's receptionists, tend to know everything.

Cheers.

Steve I thoroughly enjoyed this, very clever chap! I loved the approach for the delivery, accent and phrasing as well, quite brilliant! And I agree... those receptionists do seem to know everything

Very interesting and different. Great lyrics/poem, very well done and the recording is effective, you do sound like you are walking around outside. This would make a great prog rock epic you know....

Interesting indeed. And very well performed. I could hear this as a prelude to some prog instrumental.
