This one started as a drum track I made using the roll the dice feature in garageband. It wasn't the most cohesive drum tack but I managed to figure out a rythm part with Garagebands Solar Sailer synth. Then I beefed up the drums by playing an additional track on the electronic kit & another track of sound effects using the synth drum setting on the kit. Added plucked Bass from GB & a Sackpipa (not sure what it is but I really dug the sound) track from TJ. Vocals are me ranting a bit about the current Government shut down. I'm pretty happy with it but not sure about the mix. I have no good monitors anymore & on my earbuds, cheap headphones & the computer speakers the mix sounds fine on my nice AKG headphones the bass sounds too loud & too far to the left. I would love your opinions.
1- drum track (stereo)(GB)
1- Solar Sailer synth (stereo)(GB)
1- live drum track (yamaha dtx522)\
1- special effect track (Y dtx522)
1- plucked bass (GB)
1- sackpipa (TJ)
1- vocal (stereo)

It's confidence
I'll fill you with confidence
Doesn't matter how large the fence
Or how sharp the barbwire

Entitlement
I'll grant you entitlement
You'll be so confident that there will be
Benefits to collect

Empty pockets, empty eyes
We can't survive on just your lies

In difference
I'll treat you with indifference
Your trust I will abuse
For I have no soul to lose

One Hand always washes the other
No loyalty amongst brothers
You thought your mother knew how to smother
I'll cut your air right off

Morals so often are forsaken
The high roads hardly ever taken
We'll alter the pig to produce more bacon
Our essence has been compromised
Our very essence is compromised
We are compromised

Relevance
I'll ignore all relevance
The choices I make, the liberties I take
You're  very will I will break

It is completely angular in spots and yet is catchy.  It's almost like you have your own genre going on.  I love the crooning over the top.

I'm curious what it would sound like without the bouncy synth.

I will come back to this.  That was a lot of sonic information.

Very cool.

Great lyrics as always Bro, though provoking - and very nice tune. Very nice sounds. I have no idea what a Sakapipe is either, or profess to understand US politics either :-) Oh well, every day is a school day...

Good rant, and a really interesting mix of stuff here. I like the was the bass line creates a good counterpoint to the steady rhythm. Nice vox and good recording as well.

Cheers,

Nigel

Brilliant hook ,so much in there and your vocal on this sounds very Elvis Costello .
The mix sounds fine to me.
Well done on a great song full of great sounds.
