I went to a fantastic cigar box three-string guitar workshop a little while ago, where we built our own working models with guitar jack plugs and pick-ups. It was such good fun and very satisfying to come away with a working instrument!

Anyway, this is me testing it out! It was plugged straight into the MBR, and I added bass, vocals and harmonica. No virtual instruments on this one! There's a weird backwards fade out which I did in Audacity, and I came over all 'Paris Texas' as a little add-on right at the end.

A bit different, but a lot of fun  ;D

lyrics:

you drink a little whisky and you get a little high
do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator
even though this bible belt county is dry
do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator

i love the sound of a 3 string guitar in the morning
out here in the doghouse where we belong
working on this busted up song

do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator
do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator

i love the sound of a 3 string guitar in the morning
pour some gasoline on the bayou and watch it burn

there's a bad moon rising with a milky eye
do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator
a bitch of a witch in the delta sky
do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator

i love the sound of a 3 string guitar in the morning
out here in the doghouse where we belong
working on this busted up song

do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator
do the swamp stomp boogie, do the alligator

Bloomin' heck this is totally brilliant! The title drew me in, especially when I saw it was from you.... and wow! A three string guitar? Never heard of them but I want one! Love (and I mean love) the sound and feel of that geetar, just so low down and duuuurty. I love the song as well, great drums and bass and very cool lyrics.

Just got to go a lift a JD in your honour (if I had any....)

FMGWABP Tim this is superb fella!!! Best listen I have had in ages, just brilliant! I was pointing out a cig box guitar a busker had to the wife in Guildford at the w/e - if I am in your neck of the woods fill me in on where and how you made this as I would love to have a go! Back to the song... I believe Nigel and I concur... mind bogglingly wonderful

Wow. Sounds great and looks great too. Did you make the neck and fingerboard as well? What sort of pickup did you use and where/how is it mounted? I can't see it in the picture.
