Impressive stuff, especially as it's recorded live. Fantastic feel and just, well... lovely. The original is a great song but you have done yourselves proud as this stands up very well in comparison.

Fantastic.  The mix of the guitars is like buttah, and the voice is great.  I dug the (I assume) 12-string.  Right before the chorus, there's a lovely set of chords higher up the neck I never noticed in the original. That sounded lovely.

Great job.

I am going to try this with a looper me thinks.

Thanks Regs, Mike S, and Blooby! We've played that song out so many times that it was like riding a bike when we recorded the jam.

No 12 string Blooby, just 3 x 6 strings. I think America did use a 12 string but we just made do with our six strings. I think the higher chords part that leads into the chorus is similar to the original but who knows after all this time? You do a song for so long it sort of morphs into your own way of doing it, lol. I think this would be a great song for the looper Blooby.

I must admit to not know this song or the band. Very nice recording - sounds great. Love all the vocal interplay & harmonies - ace. Sounds very 60's california???

Thanks Steve B and Bruno for listening  and for the good comments!

Bruno, here's a youtube link of America playing Ventura Highway live....probably in the 1970's.

Smooth as silk.

Brings me back to a time long ago. A magic summer night on a beach with a campfire, acoustic guitars, a barbecue and many good friends enjoying themselves. Lots of beer and several bottles of Old Sheep Dip #9.

Well done!

You had me right from the intro! Such a great song, and this is a masterful interpretation. Smooth and ultra-classy, and the balance of everything in the mix is perfect. Beautiful performances from both of you. So good!!!!!!
